Research Interest
Dr. Goswami is well known for his several original contributions in Isoetes (a fern-ally) and Ophioglossum(adder’s-tongue fern): for example, heterosporous sporangia in Isoetes, x-chromosomal mechanism and highly conserved DNA sequences cross-matched with human y-chromosome, persisting presence of non-centromeric chromatin bodies in Isoetes (as well as in human pre-cancerous cells); population genetics of Ophioglossum, chromosomal eliminations as a mechanism in Ophioglossum to generate low-numbered species, like O. eliminatum, and detection of microchromosomes in Ophioglossum. Contributions in human genetics are numerous, which include specifically the finding of somatic mutations in foetal haemoglobin loci and chromosomal aberrations in human beings exposed to MIC gas leak in Bhopal. Dr. Goswami has been a visiting Professor at Keimyung University, Korea; Dongsan Medical Centre, Taegu, S.
